About the Artist: Stephen Schappert
Stephen (Steve) Schappert is an American abstract expressionist artist, entrepreneur, and visionary based in Connecticut. Rather than conceptualizing his art beforehand, Schappert approaches the canvas with an experiential philosophy: every stroke, drip, and splatter is an unfiltered act of emotional release, capturing the honesty of motion in real time. His complex, mesmerising compositions are physically and spiritually built through painstaking layering, often containing anywhere from 5 to 39 layers of poured, brushed, and slung paint.
Schappert’s unique artistic perspective is deeply informed by a diverse professional background. With over 40 years of experience spanning real estate, construction, and entrepreneurship—including 30 years spent painting homes—he possesses an innate, deep-seated understanding of scale, structure, and human psychology.
